Imagine Dragons: The Band Behind Radioactive and Believer

Imagine Dragons formed in Las Vegas, Nevada, in 2008, built around frontman Dan Reynolds, guitarist Wayne Sermon and bassist Ben McKee, with Daniel Platzman a longtime member on drums until 2024. Years of steady touring turned a local act into one of the most successful rock bands of their generation, and a Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance followed.

Their 2012 debut Night Visions delivered the breakthrough singles It's Time, Radioactive and Demons. The Evolve era widened the audience further with Believer, Thunder and Whatever It Takes, while later singles such as Natural and Enemy — the latter released for the soundtrack of the Netflix series Arcane — kept the band on global charts well into the 2020s.

Across albums including Smoke + Mirrors, Evolve, Origins, the two-part Mercury project and their sixth studio album Loom (released 28 June 2024, led by the single Eyes Closed), Imagine Dragons move between anthemic rock, pop melody and electronic production without losing their core songwriting voice. Big, memorable choruses and a percussive, drum-forward sound run through the catalogue — a style built for arenas and open-air stages, which is a large part of why they are among the most-streamed rock acts of the 2010s.
